Community Organizational Needs

Welcome to the Community Organizational Needs Database!

Below you will find remote service-learning, internship, micro-internship, research, and volunteer opportunities available to students, faculty, and staff as identified recently by community nonprofits and governmental organizations during COVID-19.

This database allows you to filter on organizations based on the kinds of sectors in which you are interested, or the potential need that your specific skill set (or course) may be able to offer.  You may filter on one or more sectors and multiple organizational needs (just use Ctrl to select your filters.  Select "Reset" to start your search anew).  Once you made your selections, you can review the search results and find organizational contact information and direct links to organizational websites. 

This tool is to help point you in the right direction.  Organizations were able to identify existing needs (broadly) and had the opportunity to provide more detail on specific projects.  It is up to you to contact organizations directly to inquire into details about their identified needs and about how you may be able to assist them.

For Students:  When you have identified an organization(s) with whom you would like to work, please send the organizational contact an email. 

Sample email: 

Dear [insert organizational contact name] - My name is [insert name] and I am a student at the University of Kentucky looking for virtual [service-learning/internship/micro-internship/internship] opportunities with your organization.  On the UK ServeLearnConnect organizational database, I found that you may have a need for [graphic design] support.  I would love to speak with you about how I may be able to help support your organization.  Sincerely, [insert name]

For UK Faculty / Staff:  Please contact organizational contacts directly about potential service-learning or community-based learning opportunities.  There are hundreds of potential opportunities across dozens of fields.  Please be sure to review specific projects as well as the general organizational needs indicated.

For Community Organizations:  If there are additional areas of need or projects you would like added, or projects that have been completed, please contact Todd.Stoltzfus@uky.edu to make changes to the database.
